Student Activities 2011-2012

Blood Drive

We were keen to do what medics do best, save lives and so arranged a blood donation session at Edgware Community Hospital. We hope to arrange several more opportunities to donate blood and sign up to the bone marrow register over the next few months, keep your eyes open for more dates soon!

Location: Edgware Community Hospital. Date: 22nd December.

Pub Cotch

We here at sJMA are always up for a good chilled pub night. This was hopefully the first of many opportunities to catch up with fellow medics and cotch in the lovely surroundings of Hampstead’s own Bull and Bush!

Location: North Hampstead. Date: Sunday 27th November.

Shabbat dinner in Brum

Birmingham hosted 45 students for a slap-up Shabbat dinner, held in the Central Synagogue. With delicious food, much alcohol and a fascinating talk by our very own Professor Katz, it was a great evening for all involved. Special thanks to Becky (our Birmingham chair) for organising and to the medical students from Liverpool, Newcastle, London and Southampton who attended.

Location: Birmingham. Date: Friday 18th November.

Fireworks

Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder, treason and plot. In celebration of this auspicious occasion the sJMA, had a part-ay, with fireworks, beverages and snacks. It was thoroughly enjoyable and special thanks to the wonderful Argent family for hosting us.

Location: North West London. Date: 6th November.

National opening event

To kick of the year with a bang, 40 students joined the sJMA for a night out eating, drinking, bowling, socialising and singing our hearts out on karaoke at the exclusive Bloomsbury lanes of London. We gathered in the UJS-Hillel centre where pizza and drinks were served before moving on to the retro bowling alley/bar off Russell Square. Students ranged from freshers to final years and were treated to sJMA fresher packs! A good night was had by all…

Location: Euston, London. Date: Tuesday 4th October.
